Welcome!
Who We Are
We are a blended family. This means we are full of people who have a wide variety of vocations, spiritual backgrounds, perspectives, and traditions. We are glad you stopped by and we look forward to seeing you this weekend. We're an inter-generational family. Children and youth are highly valued and included in worship, and the more mature among us are greatly appreciated. We're a family that is intentional about growing in our faith, that we might all become more like Jesus Christ. Would you join us at 10:30? At 10:30, we have Contemporary service, Covenant Kids, and Sunday School. You might be asking yourself "why is HCC here?" Our answer is simple: because Jesus is our example, we exist to see lives changed. That's why we're here. How do we live that out?
There are three things we ask from everyone calling HCC home:
FAQs
What should I expect when attending Heartland Community Church? Upon entering you will be greeted and welcomed. If you have infants you are welcome to place them in the Nursery or bring them into the sanctuary with you. The music we sing is a blended style consisting of contemporary music as well as hymns. The sermons are designed to Educate in the Bible, to Explore what that means in your life, and to Engage in everyday life what you have learned. It is our desire that every part of the service including singing, prayer, the sermon, and the time following the service be a meaningful time for you. What should I wear? We want you to feel comfortable. Casual clothes are the norm at HCC, but please wear whatever you feel most comfortable in…whether it is jeans or a tie. How long are the services? Our Sunday service typically last an hour and a half. Will I have to say, sign, or give anything? Will I be singled out? At HCC you will never be put on the spot, singled out, or embarrassed. As our guest you will not be asked to participate in the offering. The only time that you have to sign something is if you have children and place them in the nursery. Our hope is that you allow our service be a gift to you. What about my kids - do they come into the service with me or is there something going on for them? We have a Nursery that is available for infants and toddlers. There is also Covenant Kids for children Pre-school through 6th grades, and Sunday School for 7th-8th grades. What is the best way to get connected at Heartland? The best way is different for each person. One of the best ways is to get involved in one of our Small Groups. Another way would be in serving in one of the various ministries in the church (available to you after attending for 6 months). Please call the church office if you want to get plugged in. Who funds this church? Our funding does not come from corporate sponsors or from our denomination, nor is there just one generous person paying all the expenses. It is the generosity of everyday people in our community that fuels what happens at HCC. Our support comes from the normal tithes (10 percent of earnings) and offerings of people who love giving to what they see God doing here. Is this church part of a larger denomination?
Yes, we are a part of The Evangelical Covenant Church, consisting of about 750 churches in the United States & Canada. It is divided into 11 Conferences and we are a member of the Pacific Southwest Conference. http://www.covchurch.org What form of government does Heartland operate under? We operate under a congregational form of government. The congregation (membership) elects the Lead Pastor, and the Leadership Team. Do you have a question that is not answered above? Please email us or call the church office. |
