VBS Call For Volunteers

Each summer, Heartland hosts a week-long Vacation Bible School led by a dedicated group of young men & women from Oakland First Covenant Church. It's a great experience for the children in the community and to make that special week happen, there are a number of volunteer opportunities available.

Volunteers Needed
VBS this year will be the week of July 30-August 3, and runs from 9:00AM to 12:00PM each day. If you can help out any time during the week in any of the following areas, please complete the form below, or sign up in the lobby on Sunday morning. Here's what we're looking for:
  • ADULT HELPERS - Our adult helpers are on hand for registration and check-in (and check-out!), and to help with the various crafts and activities. You'll also be vital in helping with orderly transitions between locations, as moving 50 kids in a group can be quite a chore, even when it's just downstairs.
  • STUDENT VOLUNTEERS - High school and middle school students are welcome to join us to help with crafts, activities and field games, and of course keeping the groups together. For high schoolers, all hours helping at VBS count as Community Service hours!
  • MORNING SNACKS - If you'd like to volunteer to bring a healthy snack or drinks for our young attendees, or would like to help serve during snacktime, we'd love to have you!
  • TEAM MEMBER HOUSING - Do you have some extra space in your home to accommodate a high school-age kid (or two, or four, or six) for the week? You don't even have to feed them, as their meals are already separately accounted for.
  • EVENING MEAL HOST - Speaking of meals... if you'd like to host an evening meal one night (or more) for the Oakland First Covenant staff during the week, this is the spot for you. It's typically a team of six people, and we'll work with you to find out which evening works best.
